Life has been a little…stressful lately. I’ve been working long hours while in the process of a career change (yikes!) and find that I haven’t been taking the time to just sit, relax, and decompress at the end of the day. So I scoured my house for my old colored pencils and sat down with this free printable coloring page to do just that. I honestly can’t remember the last time I colored something that wasn’t my niece’s kid menu at a restaurant, and you know what? It was sooo calming! Before I knew it, I’d finished the entire page and was bummed I didn’t have more pretty things to color.
This horse coloring page really got me thinking about what type of person I am (who knew coloring could be so existential??? 😉 ) I realized that I enjoy patterns, following the rules – literally, coloring inside the lines is a thing! – and consistency. I tried to get crazy and do bright flowers next to deep-colored flowers and I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. My brain just wouldn’t let my hand do the darn thing! Am I alone in this creative world as a rule-following Crafter?!
So, I think I may print this again and force myself to get a little wild and just go for it. I can I can I can!
