Okay, so everyone is ready for Cinco de Mayo…right?!? These tequila soaked gummy worms are so delicious, and they pay a great homage to the Jello shot (I’m having flashbacks to my early 20s…yuck!) But these are a perfect garnish for all things margarita #faketequilaworm Cheryl from Cheryl Elizabeth Craft is all about those fun, crafty cocktails – so check out her page 🙂
Tequila Soaked Gummy Worms
- Black Forest Organic Gummy Worms
- Hornitos Anejo Tequila
Yup! 2 ingredient tequila gummies! Get la fiesta started 🙂
Take desired amount of gummy worms (I used 15) and find a container that allows you to fit all of them lying flat perfectly. Space the worms ¼- ½ inch apart so that they are not touching. I used a clear Pyrex loaf dish so that I could see where the tequila lined up. Pour a small amount of tequila (1 – 2 ounces) into the dish making sure it’s only covering the bottom half of the worms, leaving the tops dry. I did not cover the worms completely because I read that they could become too sticky and taste horrible. I wanted my worms to be a fun garnish to the cocktail but also still edible.
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and leave in the refrigerator for 5 hours. After the time is up, carefully drain (or drink!) the tequila from the container. Toss the worms in the dish and transfer them to a paper towel to lightly pat dry. Put the worms into a clean Tupperware container that has a lid, again lying them flat without touching. Keep the tequila gummy worms in the refrigerator until ready to use.
