My four-year-old LOVES crafting. She is always asking me if we can “make a craft,” and she’s pretty proficient with the scissors and glue!
Last week, I let her get crazy with the candy hearts and make this adorable Valentine’s Candy Heart easy craft for kids. The best part is, she was able to do this mostly on her own!
Here’s what you need to make your own:
- Candy hearts! <3
- Mini art canvases (I used 5×7 canvases, like these)
- Glue (for myself, I’d use my glue gun or craft glue…but Elmer’s was fine for Claire)
- Q-tip
I drew a heart in pencil for Claire because, like her mama, she gets upset when she can’t do something exactly as she imagines…and drawing hearts is one of those things. But we also did one that said “LOVE” – and she wrote that out herself.
Pour some glue out onto some foil or a paper. Give the child a Q-tip and let them dip the Q-tip in the glue and then dab it on the canvas, keeping within the heart that’s been drawn. I had her dab pretty liberally, and work in small sections, gluing maybe 5-6 hearts at a time before applying more glue.
Leave flat until it dries. Then you can hang it or prop it up (ours are on the mantel!).
